Each of the three candidates selected as finalists to serve as president of Madison Area Technical College for will spend two days participating in forums and interviews for campus employees, students, and community members. The first day will be spent at regional campuses and the second day will be spent at the Truax campus in Madison.
As members of the community we serve, it is our privilege and responsibility to be informed, active participants in the process – to ask questions and educate others. Elected officials of Local 243 and many others, are busy gathering information to help us form a well rounded and complete picture of all three candidates.

Excerpt: Jack E. Daniels III, the president of Los Angeles Southwest, said he was aware of the need to add women’s teams. But the college’s financial situation is so dire, he is considering eliminating the entire athletic program, which currently costs about $300,000 a year.
“Right now, it’s probably a 50-50 proposition,” Daniels said. The new field house and football stadium were built using bonds approved by voters several years ago, when the economy was flush and “there was no indication of any financial downturn,” he said.
