Collective Bargaining Agreement

YesA message from Local 243 President Marie Dusio: The tentative agreement concerning wage increases was ratified by an overwhelming majority of the Local 243 members who cast their vote (201 to 5). Salary/wage increases of 1% (retroactive to July 01, 2014) and 0.5% (January 01, 2015) will be implemented as described in the information sessions.

President Daniels has been informed of the outcome of our vote. Now the Madison Area Technical College District Board must also ratify the agreement. Their next scheduled meeting is set for 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at MATC Truax Campus. It is likely this matter will be on the agenda for that meeting.

Ballots to vote on the wages/salary tentative agreement between AFT Local 243 and the College will be distributed to all active Local 243 union members today (Wednesday, October 8, 2014). They will arrive as an e-mail message from Big Pulse and will be sent to the e-mail address provided when you Re-Membered (rejoined the Local after the contracts expired).

Although all employees will receive the salary/wage increase if the agreement is ratified, only current Local 243 members may vote.

Please remember, if the agreement is not ratified the parties do not return to the bargaining table. A ‘no’ vote rejects the agreement and ends the bargaining process for the year. A ‘yes’ vote ratifies the agreement.

Informational Sessions reporting on the Base Wage Bargaining sessions and the tentative agreement will take place at Northern Region and Metro campuses on October 6-7, 2014.

All members of Local 243 are encouraged to attend a meeting to hear reports on these important bargaining subjects, as well as ask questions.

A second announcement for the Northern Region and Metro campuses will be posted when dates meeting room locations are confirmed.

All members of Local 243 are encouraged to attend a meeting to hear reports on these important bargaining subjects, as well as ask questions.
