Women's Equality Day

In 1971 the U.S. Congress designated August 26th as “Women’s Equality Day” to commemorate the 1920 passage of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution, granting women the right to vote.

One of the best ways to celebrate Women’s Equality Day this year and honor the memories of the brave women who worked long and hard to pass the 19th Amendment is to make certain you are registered to vote in Wisconsin’s very important Fall 2014 General Election on Tuesday, November 4th.

At myvote.wi.gov you can register to vote, check your voter registration status, find your polling place, and see your sample ballot,

Additional information about elections in Wisconsin is available at the Government Accountability Board website.

They were helped by a $100,000 donation from superstar and former chorus girl Lillian Russell. In 1955 the union merged with AEA.
