Want to find out more about the potential merger of WEAC and the American Federation of Teachers – Wisconsin?

WEAC President Betsy Kippers and AFT-Wisconsin President Kim Kohlhaas will be participating in a Tele-Town Hall Forum next Thursday, January 23, 2014 to provide background and take your questions. They will be calling the homes of WEAC and AFT-W members at 7 p.m. on that date for an hour-long conversation.

All you have to do is answer your phone and follow directions to listen and ask questions if you like. If you are a WEAC or AFT-Wisconsin member and don’t receive a call from us at 7 p.m. on January 23, 2014, you can call us at that time at 877-229-8493, ID code 13603, and follow directions.

The Local 243 Forum will hold a meeting at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 16, 2013 in Room A2029 on the Truax campus. There will also be teleconference access from other locations.

Following the Forum meeting, there will be a Local 243 Stewards meeting from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. in Room A2029 on the Truax campus to discuss plans for the ongoing reMember campaign.

All Local 243 union members are welcome to attend Forum and Stewards meetings.

Please share the following information with friends, family, and students who may be interested in construction jobs: Qualified, experienced construction workers and individuals pursuing a career in construction are invited to attend a special informational recruiting event for The Edgewater Hotel Project at 9 a.m. on Thursday,January 16, 2014 at the Madison Labor Temple, 1602 South Park Street.

Those attending will learn about the job training and work readiness programs offered by WRTP/BIG STEP and the Building Trades of South Central Wisconsin.
