Sneak preview of “Lee Daniels’ The Butler” benefit scheduled for Wednesday, August 14th

Local 243 members are invite to see “Lee Daniels’ The Butler” before its theatrical release and support local community programs in the Madison area by attending a special sneak preview and program at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at the AMC Star Cinema Fitchburg. This special screening will kick off a month of events and activities to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther Kings March on Washington D.C.

Tickets may be purchased online for $15. All proceeds from this event to go to the following local organizations: Southside Raiders and Nehemiah Center for Urban Leadership Development.

Based on a true story, “Lee Daniels’ The Butler” tells the story of a White House butler who served eight American presidents over three decades. According to event organizers, “The film traces the dramatic changes that swept American society during this time, from the civil rights movement to Vietnam and beyond, and how those changes affected this mans life and family.”

Forest Whitaker stars as Cecil Gaines, the butler. The film also features Robin Williams as Dwight Eisenhower, John Cusack as Richard Nixon, Alan Rickman as Ronald Reagan, Jane Fonda as Nancy Reagan, James Marsden as John F. Kennedy, Liev Schreiber as Lyndon B. Johnson and Oprah Winfrey as Gloria Gaines, Cecil’s wife.
