Tight deadline for providing feedback related to MATC Presidential Candidate sessions

A message from Local 243 President Marie Dusio:

Sisters and Brothers,

After Science Instructor Holly Walter Kerby so eloquently posed the question about feedback that was on many minds at the Truax session on Wednesday afternoon, I spoke with several members of the Madison Area Technical College District Board. Some reported that they have already received feedback via e-mail. I described the process employed in the Eastern region and volunteered to assist in any way to assure our input would be solicited and delivered to the Board. They were open to our input and offered the following as the best mechanism for soliciting feedback after the last Truax session:

At the 12:45 p.m. Truax session tomorrow (Thursday, June 27, 2103) I will distribute a half-page form that will ask you to “check the box” of your preferred candidate, as well as add your comments on all three finalists. I will collect the forms shortly after the session ends.

Once I leave the session in Truax Room 142, I will go to the Union Office (Truax Room 244) to tally the responses, so if you need time to complete the form, please bring it to me there. I will accept forms only until 3:30 p.m. since the Board has requested that we provide our input no later than 4:30 p.m. In an effort toward transparency, if you want to observe (or help!), please feel free to stop by, although I respectfully request anything other than tallying preferences and organizing comments be postponed until after 4:30 p.m.

If you can not attend the Thursday session at Truax, you may submit feedback electronically (mdusio@MadisonCollege.edu). Please submit before 3:30 p.m. I will organize the comments into themes and indicate how many people expressed the same/similar idea; I will not identify individual respondents. However, the Board has asked to see the forms, so I will be submitting them along with the summaries. In light of their request, you may wish to be certain that your form does not contain any personally identifiable information (I will redact e-mail addresses from feedback submitted electronically).

If there is a specific topic, example, concern, or opinion you want to express directly to a Board member, contact information is available at the end of this post.

Please keep in mind that the Board will be meeting tomorrow and will have limited time to retrieve and internalize/process your feedback after the last candidate session. Feel free to use any avenues for input with which you are comfortable. Do not delay, as the Board may make its decision as early as tomorrow evening.
