A message from Local 243 President Marie Dusio:

As of 10:30 a.m. on Sunday morning, June 30, 2013 there has been no announcement about what candidate the members of the Madison Area Technical College District Board have selected to serve as as the college’s next president.

Several people have asked me what I think it means. Others wonder if something [bad)] has happened. I do not know the answers to these questions. I do know that the Board met for several hours Thursday evening, June 27, 2013; but I do not know when that meeting ended or what was decided.

Even if the Board has reached consensus, I do not find it difficult to imagine they would have offered some time (perhaps 24 hours or until Monday) for the candidate to accept or reject their offer. In addition, although they may have reached consensus, made an offer, and the chosen candidate has expressed sincere interest, it is possible there are continuing negotiations on the compensation (and relocation, if there is one) package(s).

A message from Local 243 President Marie Dusio:

Sisters and Brothers,

After Science Instructor Holly Walter Kerby so eloquently posed the question about feedback that was on many minds at the Truax session on Wednesday afternoon, I spoke with several members of the Madison Area Technical College District Board. Some reported that they have already received feedback via e-mail. I described the process employed in the Eastern region and volunteered to assist in any way to assure our input would be solicited and delivered to the Board. They were open to our input and offered the following as the best mechanism for soliciting feedback after the last Truax session:

At the 12:45 p.m. Truax session tomorrow (Thursday, June 27, 2103) I will distribute a half-page form that will ask you to “check the box” of your preferred candidate, as well as add your comments on all three finalists. I will collect the forms shortly after the session ends.

“On or about” July 1, 2013 the Madison Area Technical College District Board will have two new members: Reedsburg attorney Joe Hasler will replace current board president Frances Huntley-Cooper and Fitchburg Mayor Shawn Pfaff will replace current board secretary Noel Radomski.

Madison Area Technical College District Board members are appointed to three-year terms by a committee comprised of the 12 county board chairs from the counties which make up the Madison Area Technical College district. The terms are staggered so that three positions are open each year.

In addition to Hasler and Pfaff, the committee reappointed Carolyn Stoner, who has served as a member-at-large since 2005.
